Beaverbrooks external waterproofing
External waterproofing, using Stormdry masonry cream – a case study regarding external waterproofing in Blackpool, Lancashire.
The property was originally the old Post Office building in Blackpool town centre built circa 1890. The shop area was undergoing refurbishment and the protection of the exposed external brickwork and stonework was included in the client’s specification.
RTC (Remedial Treatment Consultants) based in Blackpool, Lancashire, were the preferred contractors to carry out the external waterproofing.
The use of Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream, manufactured by Safeguard Europe, was used by RTC, as this product is far superior to all the other water repellants on the market.
The first stage was to erect scaffolding to facilitate treatments, ensuring all health and safety requirements were adhered to. This included additional protection to up stands and full netting, as the building was in the centre of town.
The brickwork and stonework was then patch pointed as required using Stormdry pointing additive.
Due to its novel formulation and deep penetration, Stormdry does not only prevent penetrating dampness for between 20 and 30 years, it also allows the masonry to breath and retain its original looks and features. It is also scientifically proven to reduce heat loss with an energy saving of up to 29%.
With the extensive training of both our surveyors and technicians, RTC are uniquely placed to offer the only fully qualified service of this type on the Fylde Coast. As members of the Trust Mark approved Property Care Association, clients can always be sure that the work is carried out to the highest technical standards.
